City Light’s Top Five Spotify Tunes (Quarantine Edition)
Hey guys, we hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Last week over on our Instagram page we wanted to spread some love and to let you know we are thinking of you all throughout this difficult time of uncertainty due to Covid-19.
Where it should be the start of the 2020 wedding season with many people having lots to celebrate including weddings, birthdays and events planned, it has unfortunately come to a halt for now.
Although we cant perform for you guys in person at the moment, we thought this would be the perfect time to give you some ideas for how to quarantine in style with an array of feel good tunes to add to your spotify playlist. It has been the hot topic on many online forums recently so whether you are self isolating, a key worker, on furlough or working from home we hope this helps you with tips for utilizing your time in lockdown. Here are our top five's.
Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles: This is an uplifting song by one of the biggest band of all time. If you really listen to the words, it’s about appreciating all of the little things in life and enjoying the sunshine. If you have a garden or a balcony, why not use this time to catch some rays reading a good book, whilst on your daily walk or to add into your exercise regime. If you have a family or house mates, why not sit outside together with some much needed TLC. Setting some time aside in your day away from technology can really help to clear your mind and to stay motivated throughout the day.
Hukuna Matata From The Lion King Soundtrack: This is dedicated for all those Disney fans in the house to put a smile on your face! It is the well-known song from Disney’s classic The Lion King “Hukana Matata” which stands for No Worries. Although it’s easier said then done, it’s a song to remind us that we will all get through this together. This is the time to cherish contact with our loved ones whether it’s in person or virtually. Technology is the saving grace right now and it is playing a prominent part throughout our daily lives from emails and phone calls to Facetime, Zoom, House Party and Skype. There is also Disney + too so if you are a Disney fanatic there is lots to choose from. If you are self- isolating alone or with your family or friends why not have a time set aside and watch the same movie or series together. It is important to stay connected with your loved ones, remember, you are not alone.
Gloria Gaynor I Will Survive: As Gloria Gaynor once said, I Will Survive and it really could not be more of a fitting anthem to the nation now more then ever before. Not only is it a timeless dance-floor classic but it certainly represents our worldwide pandemic. You could use this time to set up a virtual party with your loved ones with many dance floor classics to choose from. Whether its karaoke, music quiz night or to simply dance around the house like nobody else is watching. You could even dress up choosing certain themes to host your own parties or game nights, the choices are endless. Why not create your own playlist’s with your friends and family and share them with each other. You might discover some new music.
I’ll Be There For You by The Rembrandts: This statement could not be more important to share. This song demonstrates how much more than ever we need to all be there for each other. Any friend’s fans in the house! This song is from the most loved sitcom of all time and if you haven’t watched it, why not use this time to have a friend’s marathon with your nearest and dearest or catch up on a series or do a movie marathon. There may be some shows you have always wanted to watch but have never had the time for, until now. You must remember to take care of yourself. It’s important to relax, unwind and switch off from the outside world when you can.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow By Judy Garland: If you are a keyworker, volunteer and working on the frontline, this one is dedicated to you. This song is about hope and it is important to acknowledge those amazing workers who are putting their life on the front line to help the community. They deserve the upmost love and respect as they are risking their lives everyday. Every Thursdays at 8pm is the nationwide clap for NHS staff and frontline workers. Many musicians are doing virtual live performances and dedicating songs including this one for the NHS so please make sure you show your support. If you are on furlough or not working at the moment and would like to help out why not donate or have a look at some volunteering work. Online platforms are sharing the amazing ways in which people are donating. It is important more then ever that we stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.
