Top Five First Dance Favourites
A first dance is a very special part of every wedding and for each couple, it's entirely their own. Its that time of the evening you and your partner take to the dance floor as a married couple, the anticipation awaits and the butterfly’s start to kick in, its finally time. The music plays and memories start flooding back, first date, first kiss, the joys and happiness whilst harmoniously intertwined, all those feelings you want to dignify into that one song.
Luckily, City Lights have performed at many weddings over the past two years - we had the privilege to witness those beautiful couples on their special days and have seen just how much that one song can speak a thousand words to them (being one of the most popular Surrey wedding bands has it's perks!).
It is important to make sure you find the one that fits you best. Some like to gather their friends and family to join in however some like it as a more intimate setting with just the two of them, it’s all down to your own taste and what you want.
So you haven’t decided on your first dance song yet? Looking for some inspiration? Don’t worry Surrey's best wedding band have got you covered.
We have complied our Five First dance favourite’s to ease the pressure off and to get your thinking caps ready.
1. Michael Buble - Everything
This is a wonderfully romantic song and who wouldn’t want to hear Michael Buble’ on their wedding day. To put it quite simply, the lyrics are intimately expressive as it solidifies just how your partner means absolutely everything to you no matter whatever happens. It’s an upbeat and fun sing along track too with the best of both worlds. You can have your dance together as a couple but you may also want to get the whole party up to join and reminisce together.
2. Lifehouse - You and Me
This song has probably been our most popular first dance choice and we totally get why. It’s a song where you and your partner can step on that dance floor together and have those few moments as just ‘You and Me’. It’s a nice mellow track where you can stare into each other’s eyes longingly and remember your journey as the happy couple you are today, there may be spectators but this song could certainly take you into your own world.
3. Rachel Platten - Stand by You
Marriage is all about love, companionship, commitment but most importantly standing by each other through thick and thin. This song is the anthem for representing just that. If you want a song where you would like to gather the whole party and not just the two of you and lets face it, it can be daunting for many couples on an empty dance floor on their own therefore you really don’t have too. Who needs the traditional, right?
4. Ellie Goulding- How Long Will I Love You
Out of all the songs, it really does captivate on the heart-strings with so much raw emotion for a bare song. It’s perfect for those couples who would have a more traditional slow dance together for the whole party to spectate. It’s a song of everlasting love and could take you and your partner into a magical world for those few minutes. It’s simply breathtaking.
5. Perfect- Ed Sheeran
Here is the man of all weddings who can write the most romantic songs that are dedicated just for you. You thought ‘Thinking Out Loud’ was at the top well think again. As Ed said himself, he wanted to write another song that could top ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and let me tell you, it certainly did. This song is just simply ‘Perfect’ for those hopeless romantics out there. For the couples not only fans of Mr. Ed himself but who also want to share those precious moments with their partner. We are sure they’ll be many requests for this song over the gig season.
